Why IndiGo has been hit so hard by new flight duty time limitation rules, explained

Indigo Flight Cancellations : India’s largest airline IndiGo has been grappling with significant flight disruptions in the form of long delays and numerous calculations these past few days, with the situation worsening particularly from Tuesday. Scores of flights have been cancelled and many more have faced extended delays of multiple hours. The primary reason for this disruption with the airline—which accounts for over 60 per cent of India’s domestic passenger traffic—are crew shortages in the wake of the new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) norms. The second and final phase of the new crew rest and duty rules was implemented last month.
