MADISON (WKOW) - High school football players around the nation signed letters of intent to play college ball Wednesday, including the newest batch of Badgers.
13 total athletes signed with Wisconsin — 12 soon-to-be freshmen and one junior college transfer.
It wasn't all celebration in Madison. At the 11th hour, Wisconsin lost its top target, running back Amari Latimer, to West Virginia. The Georgia native had been committed to the Badgers since June, but signed with the Mountaineers Wednesday afternoon.
The team did still pick up six incoming freshmen on offense, including another running back and a quarterback: Ryan Hopkins from California.
On defense, there are seven signees at three position groups, including junior college transfer linebacker Taylor Schaefer and in-state linebacke
