Chickens strut, peck, preen along creek’s shore at Chico State

Chico State garden specialist Thomas “Tmoss” DuSell said chickens have been showing up on campus for a year and a half.

He said he’s heard rumors of a rooster — with entirely red vibrant feathers — pecking around near Celestino’s NY Pizza. At one point, he said a turkey was living on campus.

DuSell said the chickens on campus are a show breed, and he suspects someone dumped them after deciding they no longer wanted to care for them.
