New Delhi, Dec 04: Transmission losses in India range from 3-4% according to the Central Electricity Authority’s November 2025 General Review.

The regional breakdown for 2023-24 shows Northern Region at 3.15%, Western Region 3.12%, Southern Region 3.46%, Eastern Region 4.24%, and North Eastern Region 3.89%.

To address these losses, Central and State Transmission Utilities are expanding networks, adopting higher voltage systems, managing reactive power, and modernizing systems with SCADA and EMS.

The Government of India supports these efforts with schemes such as DDUGJY, IPDS, and SAUBHAGYA to enhance reliable power supply for all households, as stated by Minister of State for Power, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, in the Lok Sabha.
