Nitin Gadkari gave information in Lok Sabha regarding the new toll system

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday that the existing toll collection system on highways will be abolished by next year. It will be replaced by a completely electronic, barrier-less toll system.

He said that the new system has currently been launched at 10 locations, and the target is to implement it across the country within a year. He informed that currently, about 4,500 highway projects are underway across the country, with a total cost of approximately ₹10 lakh crore.
