LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The City of Lansing’s Code Blue cold weather plan remains in place as high temperatures plunge into the teens and overnight lows dip into the single digits.
The City activated its extreme Cold Weather plan back on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and it was supposed to last through the holiday weekend, but it has been extended through this Saturday, Dec. 6.
The plan is in effect each night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Code Blue allows local shelters to operate for additional hours and temporarily increase capacity. It also allows the Fire and Police Departments to transport those in need to local shelters.
