UK households can claim £10 of free electricity for Christmas Day, as long as they act before December 21.

Brits have been urged to sign up to the Power Hours scheme by comparison site Uswitch before that date in order to secure the offer.

Uswitch will monitor your electricity usage on the day and refund the cost up to a maximum of £10.

All UK households need to do is download the Uswitch app and connect it to their smart meter.

After this, sign up to the Power Hours scheme or if you're already signed up, log in to the app and activate the offer.

Uswitch will work out how much electricity you use between 8am and 4pm on December 25.
