If there are no further changes to the 2026 Business Plan and budget recently approved by town council, the average Saugeen Shores resident faces a 2.2 per cent tax increase for Town purposes next year. Add in a 2 per cent increase for police, and the estimated education and the county tax increases and it results in a blended 3.82 per cent tax increase, or $202 more, for a total tax bill of $2,599 on a property assessed at $314,000.
The budget includes a cut of $19 per household in the Waste Management Fixed Fee, mainly related to the Jan.1 transition to a producer pay recycling program. It also includes a planned annual $49 increase to the Future Infrastructure Special Levy.
