This was the moment an earthquake woke up parts of Lancashire and Cumbria as a huge bang was heard. A 3.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Silverdale at 11.23pm on Wednesday night (December 3).

Residents described fearing that something had crashed into their homes as they heard the 3km-deep earthquake. They recalled hearing a 'weird rumble' and 'loud bang' as the quake took place.
