Up to 15 inches of snow is expected to fall over several states across America through Thursday, into the weekend, and in some places, even until Monday, prompting the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue winter storm warnings and warn residents and drivers in affected areas that roads may become " slick and hazardous ."
Heavy snow, ice, and blustery conditions are likely to affect travel, especially during busy periods such as morning and evening commutes.
Drivers in badly affected areas have been advised by the NWS to consider " delaying all travel " or use " extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary ."
States that are likely to be badly impacted by the winter storm include: Wyoming, Michigan, New Mexico, New York, Idaho, Colorado, Alaska, Montana, and Utah.
