PORT STANLEY – The Kettle Creek Inn in this waterfront village is closing its restaurant again, this time for good, citing a shortage of kitchen staff and growing competition during the busy tourism season.
The inn will remain open, but visitors now have a wealth of eatery choices nearby, meaning it can scale back food offerings, owner Jean Vedova said.

“It’s hard because you work so hard to build a good reputation. What makes it easier is that my sons will carry on our accommodations,” Vedova said. “If it was all closing, I would have a meltdown.”
Kitchen staff, including the chef, are leaving in the new year and Vedova, who runs the business with her sons Troy and Dean, with input from another son, Craig, sees a challenge in getting more cooks in the kitchen.
