SOUTH HURON – A proposed new fire station for Dashwood took another recent step forward when South Huron council authorized staff to direct consultants to move the project to the tendering phase.

As previously reported, the municipality is looking to replace the existing Roland Street station, which was built in 1954 and has been deemed inadequate for modern standards. A fire services master plan in 2021 recommended a new fire station for the village, and a new one-storey station is proposed for 177 Centre St. on lands previously home to an unused baseball diamond.
