After signing a three-year, $51 million contract with the Mets , reliever Devin Williams wasted no time taking a shot at Yankees fans on his way out.
In an Instagram story from Wednesday, Williams clapped back at Yankees fans who are suddenly upset to see him sign with their crosstown rivals.
“For a bunch of people that didn’t want me back on your team, y’all sure are mad in the DMs," Williams, via X/Twitter .
Williams is the latest Yankee to defect to the Mets in recent years. In 2024, Luis Severino swapped his midnight blues for Mets orange. The following season, reliever-turned-starter Clay Holmes and slugger Juan Soto did too.
After being traded to the Yankees ahead of last season, Williams struggled to adjust to the pinstripes.
At first, he wasn’t embracing the sideshows
