CINCINNATI —
Cincinnati Parks is sharing ideas for a new playground set to replace the one that was lost in the massive fire that also damaged the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge, also known as the Big Mac Bridge.
The fire started at the Sawyer Point Park playset area that wrapped around parts of the bridge. Advertisement
Flames from the playset quickly burned parts of the road on the Big Mac Bridge, damaging the southbound lanes.
Northbound lanes of the bridge reopened later that day but the southbound lanes remained closed for 100 days, before fully reopening in February.
Four people were charged in the investigation, with Terry Stiles pleading guilty to aggravated arson for setting the fire.
