Manitoba will release a large stock of U.S.-made alcohol that has been sitting in storage since the province joined a multi-province trade dispute with the United States earlier this year. The products will return to shelves ahead of Christmas, with all revenue directed to local holiday charities, Premier Wab Kinew said Thursday.
The alcohol, removed from retail outlets after the U.S. introduced a 25 per cent tariff on certain Canadian goods in February, will now be sold at select Liquor Marts, wine stores and private retailers. Restaurants, lounges, rural vendors and liquor-service businesses can begin offering the products on Monday. Liquor Marts will follow on Dec. 10.
