WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump has issued a proclamation honoring West Virginia Army National Guard Specialist Sarah Beckstrom who died last week after being shot while patrolling the streets of Washington, D.C.
The proclamation orders U.S. flags to half-staff and the White House and “upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, December 4, 2025.”
The proclamation is also in effect at U.S. embassies and other U.S. facilities around the globe.
Beckstrom, 20, a Webster County native, died on Thanksgiving Day, a day after the shooting.
