Earthquake alerts sent out Thursday morning reporting a 5.9 magnitude temblor in Nevada have been canceled, the United States Geological Survey said.

The USGS confirms there was no earthquake near Carson City.

"We are currently looking into why the alerts were issued," USGS said in a social media post.
