A St. John’s man charged with manslaughter is preparing to make his bid for bail in the case.

Twenty-three-year-old Dylan Baker is accused of killing 63-year-old Edgar Learning in the Rabbittown area of St. John’s.

The victim was found with serious injuries shortly before 1:00 a.m. on June 17th. He was rushed to hospital, but died a day later.

A day after that, Baker was charged with manslaughter, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of probation. Neither the weapon nor the cause of death have been released.

His lawyer said today he’s still waiting to receive all the Crown’s evidence in the case, which has been set for special management on December 18th.

In the meantime, Baker is due in Supreme Court next Tuesda
