KINGWOOD, W.Va. — Preston County Schools is coordinating efforts with the Preston County Health Department following a confirmed whooping cough diagnosis, causing concern for multiple student exposures.
In a recent press release, the Preston County Health Department has confirmed a case of whooping cough, also called pertussis. The case is mainly linked to the Bruceton area and Preston High School.
"Preston County Schools will continue to report occurrences of whooping cough and continue to collaborate with the Preston County Health Department for advisement. No further mandates have been issued at this time," school officials said. "Additionally, only one case has been reported at this time."
