On Sunday, Jacob Timmer celebrated his 18th birthday by leading Grand Rapids West Catholic to a Division 5 football state championship.
Three days later, the senior offensive lineman continued his whirlwind week by solidifying his college football future.
Timmer was one of three Grand Rapids-area high school football players to sign with Central Michigan on Wednesday to kick off the early signing period, joining Holland West Ottawa linebacker Elijah Reynolds and Forest Hills Central defensive end Matt Sexton.
“There’s a lot going on, but it’s been good,” Timmer said.
The trio is part of CMU’s 31-player signing class, which is the first under head coach Matt Drinkall, who was hired on Dec. 9, 2024 and led the Chippewas to a 7-5 record in his first season.
