COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) announced Thursday a new Automated Vehicle Identification System (AVIS) technology.

According to CSPD, the Speed Safety Camera (SSC) systems will be deployed the week of Dec. 8, and police will provide 30 days of warnings. After the warning period, fines will be issued for infractions.

The SSCs will only be deployed in school zones, roads bordering municipal parks, neighborhoods and construction zones.

Officers said they will prioritize school zones during drop-off and pickup times.

Between those periods, enforcement efforts will shift to roadways adjacent to municipal parks and residential neighborhoods. Construction zones will also be enforced when requested and as available, police said.
