IT was all going so well. Ok, not that well. But it must have been an improvement of the week Rachel Reeves has been having so far.

Finally out of the lion’s den of Westminster , we imagine she probably benefitted from a deep lungful of fresh Scottish air when she disembarked her plane before heading out for a visit to the Inchgreen Dry Dock in Greenock today .

But the nerves must have struck again at some point. In the lead-up to Reeves’s trip, Scottish journalists were told that, for once, they would have the chance to put questions to the Chancellor.
