President Trump has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff across the United States in honor of U.S. Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom of the West Virginia Army National Guard.
20-year-old Beckstrom died Thursday, Nov, 27 after being shot in close range while on high-visibility patrol in downtown Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Nov. 26. Originally enlisted in June 2023, Beckstrom was deployed to guard the nation's capital back in August, volunteering to work in D.C. over the Thanksgiving holiday.
A second victim of the shooting, 24-year-old U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe, remains in critical condition.
