WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The City of Warner Robins has canceled their in-person Christmas tree lighting ceremony scheduled for Thursday due to potential weather problems, according to a Facebook post from the city.
Calling it a "difficult decision," Warner Robins said that the ceremony — which was scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. — will not have in person festivities due to potential rain problems.
However, the city says that the tree lighting will be available online for those looking to watch it.
"Residents are invited to tune in from the comfort and safety of their homes as we 'flip the switch' together and usher in the holiday season," the city said.
Warner Robins framed the move as a way to maintain a holiday tradition while minimizing any risk to potential viewers.
