OKLAHOMA CITY — Maya Brady was chosen first on Monday, Dec. 1, in the expansion draft of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL). The new team, the Oklahoma City Spark, used their top pick on the former UCLA Bruins star as the league gets ready for its sophomore season.
Brady, now 24, had a stellar college career at UCLA. She was one of the best shortstops and hitters in the country, earning Pac-12 honors and national praise before turning professional. She played in the 2025 AUSL season with the Talons and also played professionally in Japan with the Toyota Red Terriers of the Japan Diamond Softball League. As a rookie in 2025, she helped the Red Terriers win their third consecutive league championship.
Her start last season in the AUSL wasn’t smooth: a hamstring injury slowed
