White House Border Czar Tom Homan is scheduled to speak at University of Texas at El Paso despite criticism from local leaders, including U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar and El Paso County Commissioners.
Homan is invited to speak on Thursday, Dec. 4, by the UTEP branch of Turning Point USA. He is expected to speak at 7 p.m. in the Undergraduate Learning Center. Protests are being planned in response to his visit, including by a group called 'El Chuco Habla,' who will be picketing at the Oregon & University entrance to UTEP beginning at 5 p.m., according to the group's Facebook page.
