CONCORDIA PARISH, La. (KNOE) - The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to drive with caution as 19 Buddhist monks make their way through the region.
The monks are making a 120-day, 2,3000-mile trek on foot from Texas to Washington, D.C. They will arrive in Concordia Parish on Thursday (Dec. 4).
The group will be in Concordia Parish from Thursday afternoon through early Friday evening. The sheriff’s office posted to Facebook, urging everyone to drive safely to ensure the safety of the walkers, volunteers and deputies who will be escorting them.
The journey is called the Walk for Peace. It is to raise awareness of peace, unity, and compassion across America and the world.
The monks arrived in Louisiana earlier this week. They made a stop in Alexandria on Monday
