Jaylen Brown will indeed miss a game for the first time this season as the Celtics play the Wizards at 7 p.m. Thursday. Brown was downgraded from doubtful to out due to an illness. Jayson Tatum also remains out due to his Achilles rehab.
Brown has played in all 21 of the Celtics’ games this season, enjoying a stellar season as Boston’s top option. He’s averaging a career-high 29.0 points, along with 6.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. Brown has also played through some minor injuries, though he’ll miss Thursday’s game.
The Celtics play the Lakers at 7 p.m. Friday in Boston as part of a back-to-back, so Brown’s status for that game will be worth monitoring. Otherwise, expect other wings like Josh Minott, Jordan Walsh and Sam Hauser to play more minutes Thursday against the Wizards.
