Landmark gay Palm Springs resort Canyon Club Hotel will be closing Monday, December 8, after decades in business. Hotel manager and former San Francisco resident Jeff Styer told the Bay Area Reporter on Thursday that the new owners plan to close and extensively remodel the hotel, eventually reopening it as a mainstream boutique hotel. “They will, I believe, be taking down a good portion of the building, rebuilding it over about a year, and then reopening it as a straight boutique hotel,” Styer said.
