Federal immigration officials abruptly canceled Ulster County’s December 12 citizenship ceremony, and local leaders are pushing back. State senator Michelle Hinchey, Ulster County clerk Taylor Bruck and a coalition of advocates plan to rally Friday in Kingston to demand that the Trump administration reinstate the event. They will gather at 10 a.m. on December 5 outside the Ulster County Office Building at 240 Fair Street. They are also calling for the restoration of cancelled ceremonies in Dutchess and Putnam counties.
