Ulster County is adding two new bus routes to its transit system in response to public feedback. These changes, which begin December 9, aim to improve service following earlier adjustments made in September due to the loss of the Kingston transfer point at Hannaford . The new New Paltz Loop will run on Tuesdays and Saturdays, connecting locations like Shoprite Plaza, Tops Plaza, and SUNY New Paltz. The Port Ewen route will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with stops including Golden Hill, Kingston Plaza, and connections to other fixed routes.

The additional service is meant to address immediate transportation needs until a broader Route Optimization Plan is rolled out in 2026. That plan, once fully implemented over three years, will expand countywide bus service by 27%. Ulster County
