Babies born at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center were decked out in black and red Thursday, just one day before the annual Crosstown Shootout.

In the lead-up to the contest, UC Medical Center’s Labor and Delivery team brought the Bearcat spirit to babies born just before the rivalry commences.

Employees who spoke with WLWT said having babies show team pride is one of their favorite traditions.

“I’ve been here at UC for 17 years and this is our most favorite every year,” Tara Sand said. “We love interacting with the patients, seeing them get super excited and put on the “Beat Xavier” onesies, interact with the Bearcat and the cheerle
