WASHINGTON — The FBI has arrested a man they believe placed pipe bombs in Washington on the eve of the Jan. 6, 2021, riot, apparently putting an end to a nearly 5-year search for a suspect, Attorney General Pamela Bondi announced Thursday.
Brian Cole Jr., 30, was identified by Bondi as the Department of Justice's suspect on Thursday afternoon. He was accused of planting bombs outside both the Democratic National Committee headquarters on South Capitol Street Southeast and the Republican National Committee on First Street Southeast.
According to Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino, the suspect was arrested Thursday morning in northern Virginia.
"We were going to track this person to the end of the Earth; we're not going to let him get away," Bongino said. "We didn't have to go to the end
