SEEKONK, Mass. (WLNE) — The Seekonk Police Department said it charged a woman after a crash at Aitken Elementary School on Dec. 1.

73-year-old Rosa Paiva was charged with operating to endanger.

Police alleged that Paiva used her accelerator pedal instead of the brake while attempting to back into a parking space.

She allegedly backed into several parked cars, all but one of which was occupied, and caused two people to suffer minor injuries.

Police said that there were no school children in the immediate area of the crash, and that Paiva was charged due to “[negligence], so as to endanger the

lives and safety of the public.”
