The Coronado Islanders girls’ water polo team’s 2025-2026 season is set to officially begin on Tuesday, December 2nd at 3:00 p.m. against Mater Dei Catholic.
Last season, Coronado went just 3-17 and fell in the opening round of the CIF DI playoffs.
The 25-26 Islanders will be a young group, with just one senior on the roster this season. Still, it’s a group that Head Coach David Throop believes is poised for a turnaround this winter.
“I think this group of girls has established a good culture. They have said, ‘Hey, this is our team, this is who we are.’ And as a foundation, that’s excellent,” said Throop. “They are enthusiastic, they are coachable, and open to learning.”
