A recent construction project in Wilmington is about much more than bricks and mortar.
The Mary Campbell Center , built in 1976 to serve people with intellectual and-or development disabilities, now has additional bedrooms and upgraded amenities following an expansion project that cost more than $7.3-million. The four new residential rooms are equipped with their own ventilation system, should there be an illness outbreak.
American Rescue Plan Act Funds and other support, as well as donations, made it possible to complete the project. Claire DeMatteis was serving as then-Governor John Carney's liaison over dispensation of ARPA funding as the project was coming together.
