South Bruce Peninsula council is supporting the establishment of a recycling depot at the Amabel landfill for non-eligible industrial, commercial and institutional sources.
At a council meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 2, Brianna Collins, the Town of South Bruce Peninsula’s director of public works, presented a staff report detailing how changes to the province’s recycling program mean commercial and institutional sectors will no longer be eligible for the town’s curbside recycling collection.

Those changes are coming in as part of Ontario’s Blue Box Regulation transition under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act. The province’s Blue Box Regulation transition under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act changes come into effect on Jan. 1, 2026.
