The use of artificial intelligence grows by the day, and while members of Congress often talk about concerns over AI, they’ve yet to take substantive action to regulate it.
“I think everybody would agree Congress has failed so far,” North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson, a Democrat, said.
A bipartisan House AI task force released its final report last year, but Congress has so far failed to take significant action.
A member of that disbanded task force voiced concerns earlier this year.
“We put together a framework to move forward and now for that report to basically sit on the shelf is disappointing,” said Rep. Valerie Foushee, a North Carolina Democrat.
It’s why state attorneys general are stepping in.
