Chennai: Legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja has settled a copyright infringement dispute with the makers of the film Dude after receiving Rs 50 lakh, allowing the continued use of his songs in the movie while restricting their use in another film, Good Bad Ugly .

The composer had approached the High Court seeking the takedown of his musical and literary works featured in the songs “Nooru Varusham” and “Karutha Machan” in Dude , alleging commercial exploitation and unauthorised monetisation across social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. He was also claiming royalties for the alleged infringement.
