A redevelopment of MacArthur Center could now include multiple hotel properties, according to Norfolk’s city manager.

A long-planned redevelopment of the downtown mall could at least include a couple of new hotels, city manager Pat Roberts told the audience at a Downtown Norfolk Council event Wednesday.

The update comes after Hg80 Real Estate, which was previously announced as master developer for the project , began work in a consulting role for the last several months looking at what would be successful, Roberts said.

“They spent a lot of time talking with folks in the hospitality industry here in Norfolk, particularly some folks downtown, and understand there’s a market for additional, high-quality hotel rooms,” Roberts said.
