WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI - The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution Wednesday to take control of the sheriff’s Human Resources Department, a move criticized by the sheriff.
Commissioners voted nearly unanimously during its regular Dec. 3 meeting to move four HR positions in the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office under county administration, saying there has been reports of widespread misconduct in the department.
Commissioner Yousef Rahbi, of District 8, left shortly before the vote and did not respond to a request for comment about why he left. The other commissioners all voted to pass the resolution.
Caroline Sanders, commissioner of District 4, praised the decision to take over the sheriff’s HR department.
“I am happy that we are making this resolution,” she said
