AUSTIN, Texas — Investigators in Austin say evidence points to suicide in the death of 19-year-old Texas A&M student Brianna Aguilera , but her family fiercely disputes that conclusion.
Her mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, says it doesn’t fit the daughter she knew.
“I was in disbelief," Rodriguez said. "I yelled, I shouted, I told the officer that it wasn't true, that he was lying to me... it was just devastation to the max. I was destroyed.”
After nearly a week of questions, police laid out the evidence they say led them to rule out foul play. They said Aguilera spent part of the night tailgating before the Aggies-Longhorns game, drank heavily, and was asked to leave when she became too intoxicated.
