LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A suspicious article in southwest Lincoln prompted an emergency response Thursday, but was later identified as a cooler.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue was called out to a suspicious article on the railroad tracks near the 14th Street and Nebraska Parkway intersection around 2 p.m.

LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said hazardous device technicians took a while to arrive on scene, and it was initially unclear what the item was.

Lierman later provided an update, saying the item was a cooler with ice and water. LFR believes it may have fallen off a truck.

Railroad and vehicle traffic was halted for some time at the intersection, with Southbound 13th street to 14th street traffic being rerouted to eastbound Nebraska Parkway. Northbound 14th street was also reduced to one lane.
