Sûreté du Québec (SQ) says that its investigators seized more than $1 million worth of stolen vehicles and boats in Laval as part of a major operation Wednesday.
Three residences and a business were raided as part of an operation by the Major Crimes division targeted a cell phone fraud and stolen goods ring, the SQ said in a press release on Thursday.
The crime ring allegedly involved recruiting people to open phone lines and get subsidized devices which are then resold abroad. Several service providers were affected by the fraud, police say.
