WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A single box sits on the floor inside the Wilkes-Barre Police Department headquarters, a drop-off point for the Winter Support Network. It's a new initiative by Rising Tide Wellness, a nonprofit committed to the medical, financial, and emotional well-being of communities.

Founder and director Daryl Lewis says ensuring those in need have the resources to stay warm, fed, and healthy is more important now than ever. "In a year where we know that the weather is going to be colder, we know that people are going to be hungrier, and housing is going to be more difficult. This is the year that if we've ever been curious about doing a little bit more, this is the year that we have to do it."
