CLEVELAND, Ohio — The phrase “playing for pride” gets tossed around whenever a team’s playoff hopes evaporate, but that cliché doesn’t capture what’s happening inside the Arizona Cardinals locker room.
Despite sitting at 3-9 and officially eliminated from playoff contention, quarterback Jacoby Brissett revealed on Wednesday that the Cardinals are engaged in something far more foundational – they’re building the culture that will define this franchise moving forward.
“This is right now is when the culture is getting built, whether we like it or not,” Brissett explained with a frankness that cuts through typical athlete-speak. “Moving forward, it’s like this is where you see like where the cracks are at, where you see like who actually means what they’re saying.”
