NEW BRITAIN, CT. (WFSB) - The estate of Jacqueline Torres-Garcia and her biological father filed $100 million lawsuit against the Department of Children and Families.

Two claims are being filed in the lawsuit.

One claim was filed by the administrator of the estate of Torres-Garcia. They are seeking $75 million in damages.

Another claim was filed on behalf of Nynah Garcia, her sister, through Victor Torres, the biological father of Torres-Garcia. They are seeking $25 million in damages.

The documents allege that DCF was negligent in background checks, safety checks, supervision, and case management relating to Torres-Garcia and Nynah Garcia while in the care of Karla Garcia and Jonatan Nanita.
