WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A local couple’s donation has provided Woodford County with new mobile vehicle barricades designed to enhance public safety at community events.
The bright yellow barricades weigh 800 pounds each and are made of steel. According to Woodford County Emergency Deputy Director Russel Crabtree, they can stop vehicles weighing up to 20,000 pounds by lifting the front end off the ground when impacted.
“The device would fall backwards, like a seesaw, and would lever the front of the vehicle into the air and prevent it from going any further,” said Crabtree.
