OREGON CITY, Ore. — A man who set fire to the former Blue Heron paper mill in Oregon City early this year has been sentenced to 60 months in prison, according to the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office.
Christian Gannon Dukes, 22, pleaded guilty to first-degree arson; as part of the plea agreement, other charges were dismissed.
Dukes admitted to intentionally setting the fire on Jan. 30, further destroying the three-story building in Oregon City, after stacking a several-foot-high pile of paper on the wooden floor and igniting it with a Bic lighter. Dukes said he was upset because the transients who were camping on the property had allegedly stolen his belongings.
