COLUMBUS, Ohio — Temperatures continue to fall across central Ohio, with bitter cold expected to settle in by Friday. For those working outdoors around the clock this time of year, one of the toughest challenges is simply staying warm.
At Oakland Nursery’s Christmas tree lot, nearly 500 trees await families preparing for the holiday season.
Ivan Stoytchev, who has worked with the nursery for 25 years, says the process is hands‑on from start to finish.
“We take the trees, we cut the trees, make a fresh cut on the bottom, we bail the tree, we put it on top of the cars,” Stoytchev said.
Stoytchev and his two‑man crew spend long hours in the cold to keep the tradition alive. He says the weather doesn’t slow them down.
